Fashion & Shopping in Enfield

This former market town is a largely residential suburb, far enough from the city for bits of countryside to start emerging but still only half an hour away from central London on the overground.

Enfield Town’s most notable development is the Palace Exchange Shopping Centre, so called because it stands on the site of what used to be the Palace of Enfield, which belonged to Henry VIII.

Enfield’s other claim to fame is being where the world’s first ATM machine was installed, at a Barclays Bank. The New River runs through Enfield Town Park, an open space that has been in existence since Medieval times.
